CFL Week 8 Betting Picks 2025

A new week of the Canadian Football season is here and these CFL Week 8 Betting Picks 2025 represent our favorite plays from another exciting slate.

Through seven games this season the top two teams in each division have separated themselves from the pack. In the West, the Calgary Stampeders have turned around a miserable 2024 and are atop the division with the Saskatchewan Roughrider. Out in the East, the Montreal Alouettes and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are three wins up on the Toronto Argonauts and the Ottawa Redblacks.

Despite a couple of mismatches, the books have still given us plenty to work with this week. Here’s what we like the most from each game.

CFL Week 8 Betting Picks 2025

Calgary Stampeders -5.5 vs. Montreal Alouettes (-105 via FanDuel)

Thursday, July 24th, 6:00 p.m. Pacific

The Stamps have already equaled their 2024 win total in just six games of the season and are tied with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for first place in the West Division. Calgary owns a record of 5-1 on the year and have won their last three contests. On top of that, they are 5-1 against the spread. Despite coming in each as the underdogs, all five of the Stampeders’ wins this season have been by at least six points.

Montreal has jumped out to a 4-2 start this year and join the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the top teams in the East Division. The Als are 3-3 against the spread this season and have failed to cover in their last three games. The Alouettes have lost two of their last three contests including an 18-point defeat at the hands of the Ticats.

Last season, Calgary went 2-0 ATS against Montreal. However, in both cases, the Stampeders entered as the underdogs.

Edmonton Elks vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders Over 52.5 (-110 via Caesars)

Friday, July 25th, 6:00 p.m. Pacific

It’s been another rough season for the Edmonton Elks as they begin their 2025 campaign with a 1-4 record. Their lone victory came by way of an equally unimpressive Ottawa Redblacks squad. In spite of their disappointing year, the Elks are 4-1 hitting the Over in their five contests. Edmonton is averaging 23.6 points on offense so far and are allowing a league-worst 34 points per game defensively. Three of their five games have surpassed 53 total points.

The Riders have gotten off to a hot start thanks in large part to an offense that is averaging 26.7 points per game. They have scored 30 or more points four times so far. Saskatchewan has combined for the Over in four of its six games this year.

Fireworks fly when these teams meet as they have hit the Over in each of their last five matchups dating back to the 2023 season. Three of those flew past this prop mark including a 73 point explosion between the two last August.

Toronto Argonauts +3 vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (-110 via FanDuel)

Saturday, July 26th, 4:00 p.m. Pacific

The last time these teams walked off the field together, the Argonauts were carrying the Grey Cup back to Toronto after beating the Bombers 41-24 in Vancouver. It marked the second time the Argos bested Winnipeg in the championship game in three seasons. In fact, The Blue Bombers have only managed one win against Toronto in their last five attempts.

Winnipeg will take on its first East Division opponent this year after playing back-to-back games against the BC Lions and the Calgary Stampeders. The Bombers dropped both games against the Stamps and limp into this matchup one game above the .500 mark with a 3-2 record.

The defending champs have struggled out of the gate due in large part to the injury which has kept quarterback Chad Kelly sidelined this season. Toronto is 1-5 so far and are just 2-4 against the spread. However, backup quarterback Nick Arbuckle, who has started every game for the Argos this season, is no stranger to beating the Blue Bombers. It was Arbuckle who orchestrated Toronto’s win in the Grey Cup last year.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats Over BC Lions (+146 via FanDuel)

Sunday, July 27th, 4:00 p.m Pacific

The resurgence of Bo Levi Mitchell has put the Hamilton Tiger-Cats back on top of the East Division. The long-tenured Calgary signal caller leads the league in passing yards (1,812) and passing touchdowns (12). He has also led his team on a four-game winning streak. Mitchell guided the Ticats to a 32-29 win over the Lions the last time he faced them last September.

BC has had a shaky start to the year and are 3-4 as a result. They have won two of their last three games. However, they are only 1-2 at BC Place this season. The Lions are second to last in the league in terms of points scored per game this season (23.3) and are giving up an average of 25.6 points per game.

We are going to ride the hot hand here and anticipate Bo Levi Mitchell to out gun Nathan Rourke again on his way to the win.
