CFL Week 8 DFS Picks 2025

CFL Week 8 DFS Picks 2025

We are now one-third of the way through the Canadian Football season and teams are starting to forge their identities. These CFL Week 8 DFS Picks 2025 aim to zero in on some of the key players helping to shape their teams.

One matchup this week is worth a small stack as the Saskatchewan Roughriders and their hot offense face the Edmonton Elks, the lowest-ranked defense in the league. As such, we’ve found two players who are in great positions to exploit their advantage. Add in a wide receiver coming off of a big week and a defense keen on taking the ball away and you have a solid foundation for your DFS lineups.

Each week, we’ll give you one of our favorite building blocks from each position to help you assemble a winning DFS roster. You can get in on the action in one of many DraftKings contests.

CFL Week 8 DFS Picks 2025

Quarterback

Trevor Harris – Saskatchewan Roughriders, $9,800

All of the quarterbacks over $10k this week are either injured, or have a tough matchup. With that in mind, taking a couple of steps down the ladder to Trevor Harris makes perfect sense and also provides us some salary relief in the process. The Sask pivot ranks fourth in the league in passing yards (1,626) and is tied with Nick Arbuckle for third in passing touchdowns (9).

Harris is averaging just 17.4 fantasy points per game this season. However, his last two contests have resulted in at least 23 points. Last week he hung 29.8 fantasy points on a BC Lions defense that is one of the best in the league against the passing attack.

He will face his former team for the first time this year. In two starts last season against the Elks, Harris combined for 663 passing yards, 5 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Edmonton is giving up the most passing yards per game this season (330) and have surrendered the most passing touchdowns (13).

Running Back

A.J. Ouellette – Saskatchewan Roughriders, $9,500

Ouellette has been the model of consistency this season, reaching double digit fantasy points in each of his last five outings. His 15.1 average fantasy points per game ranks him third overall in the league behind only James Butler and Dedrick Mills. The only game in which he fell short of 12 fantasy points was in his Week 1 matchup against the Ottawa Redblacks.

This week he faces an Edmonton defense that is surrendering the second-most rushing yards per game (118.6). In their most recent game against the Lions, BC running back James Butler carved up the Elks for 172 rushing yards and a touchdown with three catches for 35 yards tacked on for good measure. All told, he left Edmonton with 32.7 fantasy points.

The Ohio native gained 40 yards on 18 carries in his only appearance with the Riders against the Elks last season. He found his way into the end zone and also caught one pass for 19 yards.

Wide Receiver

Nic Demski – Winnipeg Blue Bombers, $9,400

Demski has been a machine this year and is second only to his former teammate Kenny Lawler in terms of fantasy points per game. Despite ranking eighth in the league in receiving yards (371), Demski is second in receiving touchdowns (5) once again behind Lawler in that category. The native born wideout leads his home team in targets (33), receptions (26), receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

On top of that, Demski has eclipsed 16 fantasy points in four of his five outings and has cleared 20 in three of those. Last week, he posted a season-high 33.3 fantasy points catching 7 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown.

This week, he will face a Toronto defense that has been stingy against the passing game allowing the second-fewest passing yards per game (268.3). However, last week, the Argos gave up a monster game to Montreal wideout Cole Spieker. The Als receiver touched the Argonauts up for 129 receiving yards and a touchdown on 9 receptions.

DST

Montreal Alouettes $4,400

Montreal comes into Week 8 with the league’s top-rated defense. The Als lead the CFL in defensive sacks (16), have recovered 4 of 6 forced fumbles, and have picked off 8 passes. They are averaging 8 fantasy points per game.

This game will be a defensive battle as it pits two of the top defenses in the league against each other. Points will be at a premium as both the Calgary Stampeders (18.5) and the Alouettes (22.8) are allowing the fewest points per game.

The Stamps have turned the ball over 13 times this year which is the fourth-most in the league. They have also allowed 9 sacks which is also the fourth-most in the CFL this year.
