Las Vegas Grand Prix 2024 Draftkings Fantasy Picks

The Formula 1 world tour continues this week in Sin City as the Las Vegas Grand Prix 2024 hits the Strip. Current points leader Max Verstappen is looking to lock up a fourth straight world championship title. Verstappen is coming off of a gutsy win in Brazil last week in which he drove through the field in less than ideal conditions to win the race.

DraftKings is forcing us to get creative in our roster builds this week pricing both five drivers above $10k. Luckily, there is plenty of value to be found on the board which will allow you to have enough salary remaining to fit two of these drivers in your lineups.

As always, the following are suggestions for your Captain slot, a driver spot, as well as a constructor pick. These are great building blocks for any lineup.

Captain

Max Verstappen $19,500

Verstappen is the most expensive driver and for good reason this week. Not only is he attempting to win back-to-back races for the first time since June, but he is racing for another world title this week. All the Dutch driver has to do is finish in front of Lando Norris to claim his championship.

Last year was the first running of the Las Vegas Grand Prix in its current form. Not surprisingly, Verstappen won the inaugural event leading the most laps (29) in the process.

Despite being challenged all season, Verstappen is still averaging the most fantasy points per race (25.3) this season. He put up his best effort of the season with his 47-point outing in Brazil. His price may scare people away which could give you an edge in both cash and GPP contests.

Driver

Franco Colapinto $3,400

Colapinto has an average finish of 11.7 in his six career Formula 1 starts. Twice in that span he has come away with a points finish. His highest finish came in Baku where he crossed the finish line in 8th place on a comparable 6 kilometer track.

The rookie is averaging 6.3 fantasy points per race over his six attempts. While that may not seem like much, his FPPR is higher than both Haas drivers, both Alpines, both Racing Bulls, and both Saubers. On top of that, he has gained the five-points for defeating his teammate in his last four races.

Adding Colapinto to your lineups unlocks the ability to fit Verstappen and one other $10k driver in your lineup. It will also allow you to get more creative with the rest of your roster.

Constructor

McLaren $12,000

McLaren grabbed hold of the constructors championship lead from Red Bull several weeks ago and has continued to open up that lead since. Now though, they are fending off Ferrari who are only 36 points behind with three races to go in the season. This will force the papayas to put some extra pep in their step this week.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have combined put McLaren ahead of the pack averaging 35.3 fantasy points per race. That number has dipped to 26 over the last three races. That said, they can not afford to give Ferrari an opening to gain ground on them. Expect an all out run from McLaren this week enough to justify their price tag.
