Aussie Rules Football Round 23 Betting Picks 2025
Round 23 of Aussie Rules Football (AFL) is here! We got absolutely pummeled last weekend! Unfortunately, it brought us to .500 on the season at 30-30. However, with the finals approaching, I’m ready to bounce back. Here are my favorite Aussie Rules Football Round 23 picks!
If you’re wondering if you need an offshore book to bet on Aussie Rules Football, you don’t! You can get lines right at DraftKings and FanDuel. This isn’t rugby for those unfamiliar with the odd-shaped football, bigger-sized football, lack of pads, and massive field. For a complete breakdown of Aussie Rules football, check out this page.

The Final Stretch
As the 2025 AFL season barrels toward its climax, the finals dance is about to start, and the last few rounds feel like sudden-death showdowns. Teams are jostling for position like shoppers in a half-price sale. With careers, contracts, and bragging rights on the line, Round 23 delivers high-stakes football. Here’s my four-pack of picks, each built on form, injuries, spreads—and the kind of intuition you whisper about after a sideline cliff-hanger. Yes, I’m filled with quirky metaphors today, I just cannot help myself.
Gold Coast Suns (–14.5) vs GWS Giants
When: Friday, 8/15/25 at 10:35 PM Eastern
Our first game on the AFL Round 23 picks should be a heated showdown. The sixth-ranked Suns take on the eighth-ranked Giants. The Giants are hanging on by a thread in eighth, and now Jake Stringer is officially ruled out with his third hamstring injury of the year. He’ll likely be out for weeks now. They’ll also be without Josh Kelly, Jack Buckley, Brent Daniels, and Jesse Hogan. Unfortunately, this leaves the team very weak.
The Suns, on the other hand, are sitting in a pretty good spot. They have home-field advantage, they’re locked into the finals, and they have a coach with finals experience. They’re peaking at the perfect time.

Why not continue with the metaphors for this pick segment? The GWS Giants are running this game without half their engine. They’re trying to spring with a limping kangaroo on their back. Gold Coast is full throttle and ready to compete. Okay, I promise I’m done, for now anyway. The Giants are too banged up to keep this one close.
AFL Round 23 picks for this match: Gold Coast Suns (-14.5)
Adelaide Crows (–14.5) vs Collingwood Magpies
When: Saturday, 8/16/25 at 5:35 AM Eastern
The next game on our AFL Round 23 picks is also intriguing. The top-ranked team, Adelaide, goes against the fourth-ranked team in Collingwood. Adelaide is 16-5 on the season. The teams sitting at spots two through five are all 15-6. Therefore, every game counts to these top five teams, including this one.
The Crows have a full and healthy lineup with Taylor Walker, Harry Schoenberg, Lachlan Murphy, and Brodie Smith. The Magpies are just about the opposite of healthy. Jeremy Howe is still dealing with concussion issues. They’re also likely to miss Tom Mithcell and Bobby Hill.

Due to all the injuries and just how these teams have been playing, betting lines suggest this game should be closer to a 16-26 point game. Collingwood’s defense won’t be able to keep up with the Crows. The Crows’ midfield and forward cohesion is just too good.
AFL Round 22 picks for this match: Adelaide (-14.5)
Richmond Tigers (–9.5) vs North Melbourne Kangaroos
When: Saturday, 8/16/25 at 11:10 PM Eastern
Next up on our AFL Round 23 picks isn’t a matchup between teams jockeying for position in the top eight. In fact, it’s between two teams that are ready to close the books on this season so they can just focus on the next. The 16th-ranked Richmond Tigers take on the 17th-ranked North Melbourne Kangaroos.
This line is all over the board on different books. Some books even have North Melbourne as favorites. While that makes it a scary game to put on our betting card this weekend, it also makes it fun. You can take advantage of the books not even knowing how this one will play out.

There’s not a lot to say on this one except that Richmond is a slightly better team. While they’ve only won one more game than the ‘Roos, they’ve stayed somewhat competitive (minus that game vs. Gold Coast). They only lost by four to St. Kilda last weekend. They beat teams like West Coast and Essendon in July.
Meanwhile, North Melbourne hasn’t won since June 20th. Even though the last time these two played, North Melbourne won 78-74. I still think Richmond comes out on top of this one.
AFL Round 23 picks for this match: Richmond (-9.5)
Geelong Cats (–19.5) vs Sydney Swans
Finally, our last game sees the third-ranked Cats take on the 10th-ranked Swans. Personally, this line feels insulting to the Cats, who have had a much better year. Plus, I mentioned how four teams are tied at 15-6. One of those teams is the Cats, and a win is crucial for them to stay in that top upper echelon of teams.

They’ll rely on Jeremy Cameron, who’s been locked in and could be eying a 100-goal season. Patrick Dangerfield and Jack Martin also return to the lineup, which will greatly help this Cat’s offense. They should be in finals mode and ready to rock.
The Swans, on the other hand, have lost Brodie Grundy to concussion protocols, which will weaken their team as a whole. Geelong has also been very solid at the Cattery. Look for Geelong to keep their foot on the gas as they look to stay in that top-four with the other AFL powerhouses.
AFL Round 23 picks for this match: Geelong (-19.5)
