Even after allowing 36 points to the high-flying Sydney Rooster last week, Cronulla was able to muster only 8 points in retaliation, still cashing this prop total by two points.

New Zealand has done slightly better for themselves this season. In spite of that, they are still only mid-ladder in terms of total points scored (190) on the year. The Warriors have averaged 21 points so far through nine matches. Up until recently their defense was up to the task having held five of their first six opponents to 18 points or fewer. Last week was more true to form as they combined for 40 points in a loss against the Dragons.
These clubs have met once in their history. That match ended with 36 total points in a 22-14 win for the Sharks.
Wests Tigers Over Gold Coast Titans (+285 via FanDuel)
For as much as the Gold Coast is favored in this match (-375), this contest should prove to be well contested by both sides. The Titans are currently in second place (8-1) on the ladder and have won eight straight since dropping their season opener. They have scored the second-most points in the league and have the third-best points differential. However, the Titans have been tested over the last two weeks. They have barely escaped with close wins against two top-five clubs. Neither match was decided by more than eight points.

Wests has also jumped out of the blocks quickly this year and are two points behind Gold Coast in third place heading into the round. The Tigers have a stellar record away from home this year posting a 5-1 mark on the road. They are also on a win streak of their own, entering this week having won five in a row. The last of which produced a 44 point explosion from the Tiger’s offense against the Canterbury Bulldogs.
The Tigers have yet to win a match against the Titans in three attempts. In fact, Wests has been unable to muster more than 12 points against the Gold Coast. This is the round the Tigers are finally able to break that trend riding the high of a big win last week.
Parramatta Eels +11.5 vs. Canberra Raiders (-120 via DraftKings)
Canberra has been a force recently claiming a victory in three of its last four matches. In that span, the Raiders’ manhandled their opponents winning by an average of 28.3 points. That streak came to a halt in a 26-20 loss to the Gold Coast last week. Overall, Canberra is averaging 25 points per match while conceding 14 defensively. This round’s match should be decided by 11 or fewer points should that trend continue.

Parramatta has had its struggles so far this season. Although, those fortunes have taken a turn for the better. The Eels have won two of their last three matches. Were it not for a Round 9 contest against the offensive powerhouse that is the Brisbane Broncos, Parramatta may have still been on a roll. Even still, 80 of the Eels 148 points – more than 54% – have been tallied over the last four rounds.
To the contrary of their current rankings on the ladder, Parramatta owns a 2-1 head-to-head record against Canberra. The Eels are 3-0 against this spread with outright wins in each of the last two matchups in this series. Parramatta is +245 to win this match and you would not be crazy to speculate given past history. However, the Eels haven’t shown much to justify full confidence in taking anything but the points this week.
