Aussie Rules Football Round 22 Best Bets, Picks, and Predictions
St. Kilda Saints (-20.5 on ESPNBet) vs. Richmond Tigers
When: Friday, 8/8/25 at 11:20 PM Eastern
Our first game on the AFL Round 22 picks feels too easy. St. Kilda is a 20.5-point favorite. They haven’t been great this year. However, Richmond is in a complete free fall. Last week, they only put up 23 points and have been one of the worst-performing teams the past month.
When these two played in March, St. Kilda won 135-53. Richmond has only won two of their last 11 games and is sitting at 5-15. Their forward structure is non-existent, and the midfield seems to be overwhelmed each week. There’s nothing left to play for, and I don’t see them putting in much effort.
It’s not just because Richmond has been terrible. St. Kilda has looked decent the past few weeks. They’ve won the clearance battle and pressed hard in transition. They’ve also relied on their rebounding defenders to generate offense.
St. Kilda has won the last four meetings between these two and covered in three. The Tigers are dealing with too many injuries, and St. Kilda should control the tempo.

Brisbane Lions (-24.5 on DraftKings) vs. Sydney Swans
When: Saturday, 8/9/25 at 2:15 AM Eastern
There are a couple of things to point out in our AFL Round 22 picks in the second game. First, Brisbane is one of the best teams in the league. They’re currently in third, just one game behind Adelaide and Collingwood. Another thing to think about is that they’re very, very good at the Gabba.
The last time these two played was way back in March. It was a hard-fought battle that the Lions won 86-82. However, they’ve been playing differently recently. They’re coming off a big upset over Collingwood, 92-65. They have a winning pedigree, and they want that one or two seed.
Sydney has been dangerous off and on all year. However, they haven’t traveled well in 2025, and they don’t have the size to handle Brisbane’s pressure. The Swans push a lot, which I think will lead to the Lions intercepting and capitalizing often. This feels like a game that will start close, before Brisbane breaks it open wide.

Melbourne Demons vs. Western Bulldogs (-24.5)
When: Sunday, 8/10/25 at 1:20 AM Eastern
The Bulldogs have looked very convincing in the last two games, defeating Essendon 143 to 50 and GWS 132 to 44. This will be their first time facing off against Melbourne since last year. In fact, the last time they played it was back on August 2nd, 2024. The Bulldogs won that game 110-59.
The Bulldogs are so close to the Top 8. They’re currently sitting at 9, just one game behind GWS and Gold Coast. Melbourne, on the other hand, is sitting in 12th, at 7-13. These teams couldn’t be more different in how they’ve been finishing the season. Melbourne feels a little like it’s in crisis mode. They changed coaches and haven’t been able to find an identity on the field.
As I said earlier, the Bulldogs are so close to that top-eight finish. The finals are on the line, and they’ve been answering the call. This is a bad matchup for the Melbourne Demons. They don’t have the defenders to handle the three tall targets of the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs will also open up by playing fast. This is another game on the AFL Round 22 picks list I feel good about.

West Coast Eagles vs. Adelaide Crows (-57.5 on DraftKings)
Here’s a tough game on our AFL Round 22 picks list. It could get ugly, and quickly. However, how ugly will it get? That’s the question we have to ask as the Crows come in as 57.5-point favorites. Adelaide is the top team in the league with a 15-5 record. Meanwhile, West Coast is at the bottom with just one win. Nobody thinks the Eagles will win this game. Although, can they keep it within 58 points?
The last time these two faced off in May, Adelaide won by 66 points. They’ve been dominant this year. In fact, they’ve won by more than 57.5 points six different times this season. An incredible feat. The Crows are flying high and have clinched their first finals berth since 2017. Will they keep their foot on the gas? With two teams on their heels, I think they’ll need to.
West Coast is limping into the offseason and ready to try and regroup.
