Gallagher Premiership Rugby Round 8 Betting Picks
Bath Rugby -12.5 Over Newcastle Falcons (-105 via Hard Rock)
It has been a rough season for Newcastle having won only two of their seven games so far. To make matters worse, they come into this match with a -118 point differential. That is more than double that of the Exeter Chiefs who have been outscored by 56 points this season.
Opponents have bested the Falcons by an average of 25.8 points in their five losses. They suffered their biggest loss of the season dropping their Round 4 matchup 43-10 against the Sale Sharks.
Bath currently sits atop the standings and has lost only one match. They have scored 224 points so far this season which is 139 more than their Round 8 opponents. What’s more, they have covered this spread in three of their six wins.
The Falcons are winless in their last three matches against Bath going all the way back to December of 2022.
Exeter Chiefs +11.5 vs. Sale Sharks (-105 via Hard Rock)
Exeter is still searching for its first win in the fixture. Although, they haven’t been blown out many times this season despite sitting at 0-7 in last place. Overall, the Sharks have only failed to cover this spread in just two of their seven matches this season.
The last time Exeter was on the pitch, it held Bath, the second-highest scoring club in the fixture, to just 19 points ultimately losing the match by just four points.
Sale has lost two of its last three matches. The Sharks were trounced 47-17 by the Northampton Saints in Round 5. They followed that with a 40-13 drubbing at the hands of Bath. They are entering this round on a high night with a 14-point win over the Leicester Tigers.
Northampton Saints Over Saracens (+325 via Hard Rock)
Four teams separate these clubs in the fixture standings, however, the difference in the win/loss column is just one match. Both are evenly matched in terms of points scored with the Saracens ahead in the overall tally 197- 174 over the Saints.
Northampton have lost two of their last three matches, the last of which was a tough Round 7 outing against Gloucester. The Saints did manage to keep things close in their match against the first-place Bristol Bears losing by only eight points.
This will not be an easy win for Northampton, though, as they are facing the only club to beat Bristol this season. Saracens are holding on to fourth place in the fixture despite losing their last two matches.
